The RBC Heritage is a golf tournament that takes place every year in mid-April at Harbor Town in Hilton Head, and it's presented by Boeing. But beyond playing a good round of golf, the tournament has a much bigger impact: it gives back to the community. This prestigious event has impacted various local charities over the years through the work of the Heritage Classic Foundation, with Osprey Village being one example.

The Heritage Classic Foundation is an organization dedicated to hosting a world-class

PGA tour event in order to raise funds for various educational and charitable initiatives, improving the quality of life in South Carolina. Ever since its conception in 1987, the foundation has raised over $50 million (or $56.9 million to be exact) for charities in housing, healthcare, education, and many more. But it’s not just about the spirit of the competition; it’s about impacting the community for the better, giving those who are less fortunate a chance to live.

One of the examples I mentioned earlier was Osprey Village, which is a non-profit organization set on providing housing and support for adults with IDD (Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities). Osprey Village’s vision aligns perfectly with the tournament’s goal of making a lasting impact.

Those who are diagnosed with IDD face a lack of available and accessible housing and are often discriminated against when attempting to find such housing. And with our goal of Osprey Village becoming closer and closer by the day, the RBC Heritage can help fund these critical programs and other developmental efforts to make that dream a reality.

But there is a deeper significance to this kind of philanthropy. Not only are you supporting charities that help give back to the community, you are also contributing to the improvement of the quality of life in South Carolina as well (the $134.9 million it contributes to the economy each year isn’t just for show, you know). The RBC Heritage tournament can help create lasting changes by making a meaningful difference for local non-profits. This can help by inspiring generosity, encouraging businesses, players, and especially the fans to give back. Finally, as a result of the first two, it can strengthen local communities, improving lives throughout the Lowcountry.

If you want to be part of the effort, there are ways you can support the tournament's charitable mission. One example is Birdies for Charity, a program that allows you to

pledge a specific amount of money for every birdie made at the tournament. Your grand total goes directly to your selected cause and even adds an extra 20% on top of that. You get the opportunity to donate as much or as little as you like, with pledges from one cent to one dollar per birdie or with a flat donation of twenty-five dollars to fifteen hundred dollars. This also helps spread awareness of the impact that this tournament has on the community.

As a reminder for those who have read this far into the article, the RBC Heritage tournament is not just a prestigious event or golf tournament; it is a platform for change that benefits those who need it and contributes to the economy. Because when you are playing or watching the RBC Heritage, everyone wins.

If you want to make a difference, Make sure to get your them in while you can because Birdies for Charity runs until April 20th and you can donate with the link below:
