Why Osprey Village Matters to Me
If you’re reading this article, it could mean one of two things. Maybe this is the first piece of mine you’ve come across, where as the Ambassador of Osprey Village, I share my story and experiences. Or maybe you’ve been following along for a while and already have a sense of who I am and what I’m about. Either way, I’d like to pause for a moment and answer a question you may be wondering:
“What do you hope to get out of Osprey Village once it’s funded and built?”
The simple answer is this: I want to connect with people like me—neighbors I can see, talk to, and share life with on a daily basis. Community is important, and right now, whether you live in a gated community or an average neighborhood, it can be difficult to find friends within walking or biking distance. That kind of distance can make life feel a little lonely, and that loneliness affects more than just your day—it affects your outlook on life.
A Glimpse Into the Life I Imagine
Some of my dreams for Osprey Village may sound small to others, but to me they’re everything. I imagine a community center full of life: video game tournaments in the game room (settling once and for all who’s the best at Mario Kart), board game nights where people can teach each other new favorites, or movie nights complete with popcorn and soda. I picture summer evenings spent at barbecues, laughing and playing games, or even group field trips that let us experience the world together.
More Than Surviving—Thriving
More than anything, I want to live—not just get by. I want to make my own choices, adapt as the world changes, and feel supported by a community that understands me.
There’s much more I could share, but I don’t want to give away all my hopes and plans just yet. For now, I’ll leave you with this glimpse into what I’m looking forward to most about Osprey Village. Thanks for reading, and I’ll see you again next week.
